The truth behind Credit Card Rewards
Most of the Credit card companies offer Credit Card Rewards to promote their credit cards and increase their usage. But are these really beneficial for the clients? Sometimes yes, but most of the times it is an incentive used to lure the clients.
There are quite a lot of Credit Card Rewards available. Some of the most common rewards are Cash back rewards, Freebies, Air Miles etc. If we take a close look at these rewards we may feel that it is not a reward after all because if a client opts for the Cash back reward, he usually pays a higher rate of interest on the outstanding amount, as for freebies, the products which are offered for redemption against points are usually very highly priced.
Another problem with the Credit Card Rewards is that for all the Rewards except Cash Back you have to contact the company and because of this some card holders either forget about the program or do not have the time to get the prizes. Also, it is believed that these Reward cards tend to have higher fees to help pay for the program. Hence, while selecting a card it is best to look at other features like the annual fees, interest rate etc and lastly consider the rewards.
